Art is the perfect medium to teach children science through. For this workshop we collected leaves from a garden and examined them under a magnifying glass. I explained to the children that when seen under an even stronger lens, such as a microscope, the cells inside the plant would be visible. We talked about cells and how they are in all living things around us, and then we looked at a few photographs of plant cells.
Using watercolor and marker, this is how they imagine plant cells.
