In this particular workshop, it was my first time creating with both children. I brought some recycled butcher paper, sticks, scraps of fabric, pastels, paints, multiple styles of scissors and a big box of mixed materials. I presented them first with the paper and said they could create anything they wanted but they needed to also have a story for the finished project. For the second part of the activity I explained that the sticks were to be used for the same purpose; they could be made into anything and I wanted to hear the story behind the creation. The goal of the project for me was to be able to assess the children’s’ abilities to work with various materials, as well as create a project in which they were asked to voice their imagination. Both kids made really cute paper characters with great imaginative backgrounds, as well as two different stick creatures ready to embark on exciting adventures.
