Koinobory Flags

In celebration of Children’s Day in Japan, I made koinobory flags with some of my little artists. My students are living in Istanbul, but originally from Japan, and I wanted to hold a workshop that would celebrate something from their culture. Traditionally in Japan, families hang the koinobory flag outside their home as a symbol of courage and strength and also as well wishing that their children will grow up healthy. In many cases, the family hangs the same amount of fish flags outside as there are members in the family.
